I am wondering if anyone knows if Beswick ever produced a trotting foal?

Hi. I have recently inherited a Beswick horse and Jockey. It looks like an early model and while researching it i came upon your site and found an example . It is no. 1037 colourway 1. As its not really my cup of tea i will be looking to sell it in the near future and as some of them go for several hundred pounds i was hopeing you could give me an idea what this one could be worth. P.s it is in excellent condition.
Many Thanks

I have a girl on skewbald pony as on your site ( model 1400), it is marked Beswick but the marking on the pony differs slightly from yours is this normal ? I also have a boy on a palomino again my one has less definite white on the legs. I know they are original and I have had them for some years, they are both numbered and marked. I hope you will reply !
Your site is very interesting and I have found some items I have been unable to find elsewhere.

Hi, While researching maker of a porcelain horse I purchased recently at an estate sale in the south, I came across your wonderful website. My foal is in a laying down position with one leg bent and raised. It has a beautiful high glaze of of light to darker brown shades. I am not familiar with horses. Bottom has the number 1270 incised, and also has a light blue maker's mark and writing underneath under the glaze. It is very hard to read. I cannot make it out. Anyhow, it looks very similar to a Beswick. I'm going to take pictures this afternoon and list on ebay soon. Any ideas as to who possibly made this horse? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Dawn McDermott, Emerald Coast Antiques

In 'Non Beswick' section, you report a 1939 visit to the Hertwig works, by someone from Beswick. You suggest that samples (of the models that were later imitated in B's own production line) were collected at that time. Would you please be so kind as let me know your source for this? I am currently researching the relationship between Hertwig and Beswick; and would welcome any further information you may have. The part played in the transformation of Beswick by the decision to borrow/steal the H designs is often underestimated. As examples, the notoriously elusive Foal Trotting 766 and Comical Foal 728 are both shameless reproductions of Hertwig designs. For any help you can give me, on any aspect of this fascinating phase in Beswick history, I will be yours very gratefully David(Posted on 2007-10-12 09:36:00 by )

Mr Martin
Hi. Similar to the question at the top of your page i also inherited a Beswick horse and Jockey. Im sure its the model that is discontinued No. 1037 colourway 1. I am little worried of breaking the piece it seems so fragile and probably will end up in pieces in my hands. So if i was to sell what price should i be looking for and where do i go to sell? Mint condition...TY
